I am part of the Infinite Salon team, working with Jessica since March 2021.
I grew up on the East Coast (not far from where Jessica lived). Around 2003 my family moved to Houston Texas. It was very different than the place I’d known as home. The hairstyles, makeup, and clothing were all very different than anything I’d ever seen before. When I started working, I immediately went into retail management. At that point in my life my obsession for clothes outweighed my love for hair and makeup. Although I loved working in the retail industry, after 7 years I was ready for a change. I moved over to the restaurant industry. I loved meeting new people and starting conversations with anyone that stopped by my store or the bar I was tending at the time. During this time, I never stopped dreaming of one day becoming a hairstylist. I moved to Portland Oregon in 2018 to be closer to family and enjoy all that Oregon has to offer.
I decided that 2020 was going to be the year that I was following through with my education desires and finally pursue becoming a Hairstylist. The pandemic put my dreams on hold once more. When the world started to reopen, I decided this was my time to GO! The restaurant I was working for had a very unpredictable future, so I seized the opportunity. I decided to fully invest in my hair education. I quit my service job and began beauty school in December 2020. Once I started my program, I knew instantly that I had made the right choice. Months after starting school I met a stylist (Jessica) in Portland who offered me an opportunity to shadow her. How could I turn down the chance for free education! During my weekly visits with Jessica, she informed me that it could turn into an apprenticeship program and lead to a full-time position. She supported me through the duration of my hair program. Prior to my graduation she offered me a full time Assistant/Apprentice position. Through one on one in salon education with Jessica I’ve completed my apprenticeship and I am now a fully licensed Junior Stylist with Infinite Salon.
